Andriy Tsygichko

Pianist

Andriy Tsygichko was born in Odesa (Ukraine), he started to study piano with Asya Markova at the Music School in Kharkiv. Later, he attended the Special Musicschool for Gifted Children in Kharkiv under the guidance of Prof. Leonid Margarius and Prof. Garri Gelfgat. For Andriys graduating recital he obtained a honorary certificate and awarded the gold medal.

From early years on, he attracted a lot of attention and became prize winner of national and international competitions, such as Rachmaninoff Competition in Dnipro (Ukraine), Luzenko Competition in Kharkiv (Ukraine), International Piano Competition of the Gelendzhik Institute of Arts (Russia), International Vainiunas Piano Competition in Vilnius (Lithuania) and International Krainev Piano Competition in Kharkiv (Ukraine).

Andriy Tsygichko continued his piano studies at the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig, Germany, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Herbert Sahling and Prof. Gerald Fauth (piano) and of Prof. Hanns-Martin Schreiber and Prof. Phillip Moll (chamber music). Andriy concluded his Master recital with distinction.

He received also important artistic influence from K. H. Kämmerling, V. Krainev, E. Larsen, G. Pirner, A. Webersinke and A. Sevidov.

In the past years, Andriy Tsygichko has given concerts in Kyiv, Kharkiv and other cities in the Ukraine as well as in Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Spain, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, USA, Switzerland, Japan and Germany and has performed as a soloist with different orchestras, like Kharkiv Philharmonic Orchestra, Young Kharkiv Philharmonic Orchestra, Elbland Philharmonic Riesa, Westsächsisch Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphonic Orchestra of the Balearic of Iceland ”Ciutat de Palma”.

During the last years, he has won recognitions and became a prize winner of the RWE Competition in Leipzig (Germany), International Competition „Verfemte Musik“ in Schwerin (Germany), International Piano Competition in Andorra, International Piano Competitions "Vila de Capdepera" and „Ciutat de Mallorca“ in Spain.

Andriy Tsygichko appears regularly as a jury member of national and international competitions in Ukraine and Germany. He is also being invited as a guest professor of the Masterclasses, among others by the European EPTA conference in Novi Sad (Serbia) and the Grand Nancy European Masterclasses in France.

Numerous radio and television performances, CD and DVD recordings prove his artistic abilities. Andriy has received scholarships from the mayor of Kharkiv and from the Cabinet of the Ministers of Ukraine. He was also awarded the Prize for excellent achievements of foreign students from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He is a member in the World Piano Teachers Association. Since 2015, Andriy Tsygichko teaches at the piano faculty at the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig, Germany.
